TruID is a client application designed to generate One-Time Passwords (OTPs), serving as a secure means of identification for an organization's mission-critical systems, including sales and email platforms.

The application supports multiple user profiles, each configurable in either challenge or synchronized modes. In synchronized mode, the OTP is produced after the user inputs their PIN. Conversely, challenge mode requires the user to enter a challenge value—supplied by the TruID server—in addition to their PIN to generate the OTP.

Implementation of TruID necessitates that the organization or service provider operates the PortWise Authentication Server. This server supports the RADIUS protocol and offers web service APIs to facilitate integration with various applications requiring robust user authentication.

For online activation, users receive a one-time activation key generated by the PortWise Authentication Server via email or SMS. Activation is completed by clicking the provided URL on an iOS device and following the subsequent instructions.

Manual activation involves generating a seed value on the PortWise Authentication Server, which must then be manually entered into the TruID client to activate the respective profile.
